Balcón de Europa
The balcony of Europe is a round square located at the end of a long avenue full of palm trees.
Aforetime, in that same place, there was a fortress, but it was destroyed during the war of independence in the year 1812.
From the balcony, there are magnificent views of the entire coast of Nerja.
It is said that the name of Balcón de Europa was put by Alfonso XII. He visited Nerja in 1885 and was captivated
by the place.
In that square was located a fort that was destroyed during the War of Independence. The esplanade of the place is the current balcony. At the moment, there is a commemorative statue of Alfonso XII.
From this place, you can enjoy panoramic views of the beaches of Nerja and the immensity of the sea.
On the way down to the Balcony of Europe you will find cafes, hotels, ice cream parlors, bars and more shops...
