Malaga Cathedral

The Cathedral is considered one of the most valuable Renaissance jewels in the whole of Andalusia.
It is located only 10km from our Car Hire in Malaga Airport.
The completion of this Cathedral was in the 18th century, although one of its towers was not finished and also the final details of the main facade.
For that reason, although its real name is “Our Lady of the Incarnation”, the citizens of Malaga call it “la manquita” ("the one-handed").

In 1528, it stars to build the cathedral of Malaga on the site of an ancient mosque.
It was consecrated in the year 1588, the 3 of August.
Throughout the building process, the Cathedral suffered constant interruptions.
In the year 1782 the works of the Cathedral were finished, still lacking to build one of its towers.
Some people say that the money from the construction of the tower was used to help the United States in its independence, other studies say that it was used to finish the Camino de Antequera.
The Cathedral of Malaga was declared Historical Artistic monument in the year 1931 and well of cultural interest according to Law 16/1985 (of 25 of June).
