Sohail Castle
The Sohail Castle is a fortress that is situated about 38 meters above sea level.
This castle is located next to the Fuengirola River.
Throughout history it has undergone many remodeling until it is seen as today.
If you want to visit another castle you can visit the Gibralfaro castle in Málaga.
The place where Sohail Castle is located was populated by many cultures.
What can be seen today is the adaptation of the old Alcazaba, built in the Muslim era, transformed into a castle.
During the 19th and 20th centuries, through an auction, the Castle passed into private hands.
His last owner wanted to renovate the building in 1969.
In 1989 a rehabilitation project began.
The head of the execution of the works was the School-Workshop Castillo Sohail. It was in this year that the access to the Castle was conditioned so that it could serve as an auditorium.
Since that date, the Fuengirola City Festival is held annually.
Since 2000, "Las Noches del Castillo" (Castle Nights) has also been celebrated.
